Paul Schreck was a checker player from Missouri but known throughout the US as an excellent checkerboard maker.  His trademark boards were two hinge halves of 7 ply birch cabinet plywood with painted 2 inch green & white squares and covered with 3M adhesive transparent contact film to protect the playing surface. Paul would glue green felt to the wooden backs to prevent scratching. This was one of the most durable and best value checkerboards for your money in the 70's-90's.  He also conditioned folding cardboard checkerboard in this fashion.
